The National Careers Service are connected to a plethora of organisations offering learning, training and employment opportunities across the region, as well as in  the Lyng area.

If you would like some additional support, their qualified Careers Advisors would be happy to conduct a 121 career management session by telephone helping you to identify which career path you might like to pursue, assist with CV building and much more.

Ongoing support is available for up to 12 months and Career Advisors can refer you onto suitable courses for learning (if required) and present you with a range of job vacancies, which you can apply for relating to your skills set. They also hold regular webinars as a gateway to learn more about certain sectors before applying for those learning or job opportunities, for example preparing potential applicants to work in various sectors, Care, Civil Service, Self-Employment, as well the Kickstart webinars they are currently running.

The Lyng Estate Job Club.    CURRENTLY SUSPENDED

The Job Club, was established in partnership with employment development agency, SWEDA, to operate on Tuesdays, from 1-3pm, at the Good Shepherd with St John Church of England Church on Lyttleton Street, West Bromwich and was set up to provide valuable support to residents from the Lyng estate looking to find employment. The sessions, are available on an appointment only basis and provide residents with a range of advice and training covering everything from how to use a computer to interview preparation techniques.

Part time Youth Worker

Lyng Community Association, West Bromwich

Job Title:  Youth Worker

Part time post, 5 hours per week with occasional weekend work

Salary: £10 per hour

The Lyng Community Association, a small housing association in West Bromwich has been successful in gaining a Children in Need grant to run a youth project across the estate.   We are looking for a Youth Worker with experience of working with young people aged 10-18 in either a paid or volunteer role.  The project is a youth led project, with the young people working on collective actions that affect the community, have a say on running the project and budget.

The successful candidate will be available to work on the project on Tuesday evenings from 4pm-9pm with a monthly external session held either on a Saturday or Sunday to suit the young people.
